Country Activation Lead (Malawi)
Vincent Phiri is a seasoned Digital Banker with over 12 years of expertise in credit underwriting, business loan analysis, and bank operations management. He has a strong background in corporate ethics, media dynamics, and team leadership. Vincent’s training includes investigative financial journalism, corporate governance, and economic reporting from Wits University (South Africa), as well as media and economics studies at the Malawi Institute of Journalism. He also completed a course in regional integration, investments, and economic development in Lusaka, Zambia. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Management & Media Psychology and is currently pursuing a Master’s in International Relations, alongside certifications in digital journalism, digital banking, and finance. His experience spans Sub-Saharan Africa, having worked as a Financial Correspondent for SABC Africa in Tanzania and later as Business Editor at Malawi’s Times Group. In the public sector, he served as Special Assistant and Communications Advisor to Malawi’s Minister of Finance. At FINCA, Vincent has held multiple leadership roles, including Communication Associate for FINCA International, Business Development Manager, Savings Manager, Product Manager for Village Bank Loans, Branch Manager, and Deputy Head of Branch Network. His contributions have been instrumental in transforming operations and enhancing customer-centric services at FINCA Malawi. Currently, Vincent leads Digital Transformations and Agency Banking initiatives at FINCA Malawi, driving innovation and financial inclusion.
